35 of us set out to Upton House and Gardens, National Trust property near Banbury, Warwickshire. Sitting in the sunshine for coffee was a wonderful bonus after this very damp year. Suitably refreshed we all had a wonderful day investigating rooms full of art from Stubbs to Canaletto/Breughel /Hogarth and beyond. Not to mention the beautiful china on display. The guides were eager to engage in detailed discussions of the artwork on display and we even had piano accompaniment in the long gallery.
After further refreshments in the sun, we explored the beautiful garden set on the hill with a quite fearsome 10ft Ha ha. There was welcome shelter from the trees and a lovely walk back to the coach via the woodland path.
